Paula Reilly '27

Paula is a third-year student concentrating in General Biology with a minor in Business for Life Sciences. Passionate about research, she is actively involved in two Cornell research labs. In the BABY Lab, she studies early language development and the cognitive foundations of infant communication. In the Smith Lab, she investigates how undergraduate biology field courses influence students’ science identities, contributing to education research that supports more inclusive learning environments. Outside of the lab, Paula is a member of Phi Delta Epsilon, where she engages in service, mentorship, and professional development. On weekends, she volunteers with Alzheimer’s Buddies, forming meaningful connections with individuals affected by memory loss. In her free time, Paula enjoys running, working out, and traveling! She is committed to bridging research, healthcare, and human connection in her path toward a career in medicine.

Paula's words of advice to incoming students:

"Make time to explore interests outside of your major. It’s often the unexpected experiences that shape you the most. Try something new just because you’re curious, not because it’s on your resume. College is a chance to grow into a more well-rounded version of yourself, so don’t be afraid to branch out."
