Christopher Lekaj '28
Christopher is a junior concentrating in Neurobiology and Behavior, and double majoring in Chemistry. As a part of the Han Lab, he studies mechanisms of neuronal morphogenesis and degeneration in Drosophila, focusing on the specific protein structures and functions necessary for the engulfment of neurons. On campus, Christopher is involved in the Cornell Undergraduate Research Board, where he organizes professional development events and mentors underclassmen, Alzheimer’s Buddies, where he volunteers with Alzheimer's patients, and Chemistry Peer Advisors, where he tutors for various Chemistry courses. He has also has been involved in the Cornell Jazz Ensemble and Wind Symphony, playing the saxophone. In his free time, he enjoys music, playing soccer, and cooking.
Christopher’s words of advice to incoming students:
“Always remember that you are here for a reason. Even when classes get difficult and you feel overwhelmed, you are never alone. Trust that everything will fall into place! Also, don't be afraid to try anything and everything. It's the best way to find your community! ”
