Maria Aurelio '27

Maria is a sophomore concentrating in Neurobiology and Behavior and minoring in Music! As part of the AyA Lab, she pursues research to better understand the neural mechanisms behind episodic memory, which is an integral component in reliving our past and personal experiences. On campus, she is part of Cornell University Emergency Medical Services, volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician and teaching classes as a Basic Life Support Instructor. She is also involved in the Alpha Iota Gamma Pre-Health Fraternity, Cornell Orchestras as a violinist, Brain Exercise Initiative, and CLUB Scholars Program. In her free time, Maria loves to crochet, climb, read, and run outside!

Maria's words of advice for new students:

"Make room for curiosity! I know that amidst juggling the tough classes, new friendships, multitude of extracurriculars, (and sleep!), that it's easy to put things that fascinate us on the back burner. But whether it be a random topic you learned in that one intro bio lecture or read about in a reading, set aside the time to cherish that passion and learn more about it!"
