Visiting Campus

It is said that Ithaca is "centrally isolated," but there are actually many convenient ways to get to our Ithaca campus.

Use the following resources to map out your travel. For additional information, visitors may contact the Office of Visitor Relations at (607) 254-4636 (INFO) and Office of Transportations at (607) 255-4600 Monday through Friday. TCAT public transit bus routes run throughout campus and are available for $1.50 per ride, cash only.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences main administrative building, Roberts Hall, is located at 215 Garden Avenue, Ithaca, NY 14853.

Travel Options & Directions

Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is a 10-minute drive from campus and offers connecting flights for domestic and international travel. Ground transportation options include rental cars, public transportation, ride hailing apps, taxi service and complimentary shuttles to/from many hotels. Cornell offers direct bus service from Ithaca to New York City via the Campus-to-Campus bus.

From Syracuse and other points northeast:

Take Interstate 81 south toward Cortland, then Route 13 south to Route 366 toward campus.

From Auburn and other points north:

Take Route 34 south, then follow Triphammer Road south to campus.

From Albany, New England and other points east:

Follow the New York State Thruway through Albany to Interstate 88 west, then take exit 8 in Bainbridge. Follow Route 206 west to Whitney Point, then Route 79 west toward Ithaca.

From Philadelphia and other points south:

Follow Interstate 476 north to Scranton, Pa., then continue on Interstate 81 north through Binghamton, N.Y. Continue northward on I-81 to exit 8 at Whitney Point, then follow Route 79 west to Ithaca.

From New York City:

Follow Interstate 80 west to Stroudsburg, Pa., then continue on Interstate 81 north toward Binghamton, N.Y. Continue northward on I-81 to exit 8 at Whitney Point, then follow Route 79 west to Ithaca.

From Rochester, Buffalo and points west:

Follow the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90) east toward exit 42 in Geneva, then take Route 96 south toward Ithaca.

Public Transit

TCAT (Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit) provides fast and affordable bus transit throughout campus, downtown Ithaca and Tompkins County. Daily cash fares start at $1.50 per trip; children 13 and younger ride for free. Visit tcatbus.com for schedules, maps and more details.

Parking

Parking is available for a nominal fee on weekdays and for free on the weekends. You may choose to pay for parking in advance while scheduling your tour or pay to use any number of conveniently located Parkmobile lots once on campus. Learn more on the Visitor Parking Information page.

The closest visitor parking lot to the main CALS buildings and the Ag Quad is found at Peterson Lot (across the street from Stocking Hall at 411 Tower Road, Ithaca, NY, 14853), which is a Parkmobile parking facility. Parkmobile allows you to conduct parking transactions by mobile phone. There is a white parking information booth located nearby at 360 Tower Road, Ithaca, NY, 14853 should you need more information.

  1. Park: Look for the green Parkmobile sign.
  2. Pay: Use the Parkmobile mobile app found in your app store, their website or call 1-877-727-5730 and enter the zone number listed on the sign. Pay using credit card or PayPal.
  3. Go: Head to class, your office, or that job interview. You can even opt-in to receive a text notification 15 minutes before your parking session is set to expire.
Parking for the Dairy Bar

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Cornell ice cream! Looking to visit the Dairy Bar and get a taste of Cornell's world-famous ice cream? Park in the Peterson Lot and enter Stocking Hall to find the Dairy Bar.

The closest visitor parking garage to CALS is the Hoy Road parking garage. The garage is conveniently located at 167 Hoy Road, Ithaca, NY, 14853, and has metered, mobile and permit-parking. There is a Visitor Parking and Information Booth about 20 feet from the garage entrance where parking permits can be purchased.

All multi-space meters are in operation Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
