Find research opportunities
Most research opportunities are not advertised. Students find positions by contacting researchers they would like to work with – usually by email.
- Ask your professors, TAs, or faculty advisor for advice on finding research opportunities.
- Search the Cornell Researchers Google Sheet for opportunities to conduct research with a scientist in your field of interest.
- Meet with a Student Advisor who will share their research experiences and offer insight.
- Search through the CALS Directory and the A&S Directory to narrow down your field of interest and selection of researchers.
- Participate in the Peer Mentoring Program through CURB (Cornell Undergraduate Research Board).
- Paid research opportunities may be found on the Student Employment website or by speaking with individual research mentors.
Cornell Funding for Undergraduate Research
Research funding can provide new opportunities to pursue the answers to exciting questions, travel to professional conferences, provide payment or stipends for time invested, procure necessary equipment and supplies, and many other benefits. Data Collection, Management and Analysis Resources
Cornell Data Services offers a range of disciplinary, policy, data, and information technology experts for creating and implementing data management and sharing plans. Their team helps researchers find specialized data-related services they require at any stage of the research process, including initial exploration, data gathering, analysis and description, long-term preservation, and access.
Cornell Statistical Consulting Unit supports faculty, staff, and students with study design, data analysis, and statistics in their research. Resources include in-person workshops, tutorials, one-on-one consultations, and drop-in appointments.
