Castine Hardesty '27

Castine is concentrating in Microbiology and plans to attend medical school after graduation. This summer, she will be staying on campus to work in the Gallagher lab studying second messengers in Streptomyces sporulating bacteria. During the academic year, Castine volunteers in an Ithaca nursing home with Community Elderly Partnership, is involved with PPGA and Cornell Medical Brigades, and is a writer for the Cornell Healthcare Review. She is also pursuing a minor in Infectious Disease. To relax, Castine loves to play piano, read, and explore the Ithaca restaurant scene!

Castine's words of advice for new students

“Don't compare yourself to others! It's easy to feel like you don't measure up to those around you, but everyone is on their own path. College is all about exploring your diverse passions. Do what makes you happy, and the rest will fall into place!"
