Merry Nguyen '27

Merry is concentrating in General Biology and plans to take a gap year before applying to medical school. She is a TA for BIOG 1500, where she teaches aspects of the lab focused on science techniques. Passionate about community and culture, she serves as President of the Vietnamese Student Association, fostering cultural engagement on campus. Merry is also a member of the Meinig Family Cornell National Scholars, participates in servant leadership initiatives, and is involved in the Weill Ithaca Network as Treasurer. She represents the junior class as a Biology Scholars Program Junior Representative and is a member of a pre-health honor society, AED. Outside of campus, she volunteers in the Emergency Department at Cayuga Medical Center and serves as an EMT on Long Island with her local ambulance company.

Merry’s advice for new students

"Starting something new can feel overwhelming, and it’s normal to experience imposter syndrome or wonder if you truly belong. But trust yourself—you earned your place here. Stay open to new experiences, put yourself out there, and you’ll find your people. Over time, you’ll build a community that supports you, and you’ll realize you’re more capable than you think."
