Miranda Azemi '28

Miranda is concentrating in General Biology in CALS, with interests in genetics and health policy. She is a McNair Scholar, a member of the Biology Scholars Program (BSP), and a Rawlings Presidential Research Scholar, where she serves on the Professional Development Committee.

As a research assistant in the Evans Lab, she is investigating the genetic basis of a neurological disorder in Miniature American Shepherds, working to identify potential hereditary links. Beyond research, Miranda is a yoga instructor for Big Red Yoga and works as a patient care aide at Brookdale Senior Center, where she supports elderly residents living with severe dementia.

Her words of advice for new students

“Use your first year to explore your interests! Indulge in the new and exciting experience of coming to Cornell and being around such amazing people and opportunities. I've learned so much from my peers, and I recommend absorbing as much as you can because before you know it, you're graduating! ”
