Ice Archawin Kittirattanapaiboon '28
"Ice" Archawin Kittirattanapaiboon is originally from Bangkok, Thailand and is a junior majoring in Biological Sciences and Asian Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. Ice is interested in many aspects of biology, particularly evolution and development, which he studies from both scientific and historical perspective. Ice conducts research in the Babonis Lab, which investigates how novel cell types, the stinging cells of sea anemones, evolved. He also pursues historical research on the reception of evolutionary theory in non-Western countries and is eager to chat about the intersections between biology and other disciplines.
Out of his academic career, Ice can be seen cooking, walking in the woods, or trying good foods around Ithaca, and he is always happy to talk about classes, research, or life at Cornell.
His advice to freshmen:
“Enjoy your four years! It's important to manage your time well with academics and extracurriculars, but making lifelong connections and discovering your own path and interest is what college is all about!”
