Our experts lead research and extension programming for turfgrasses. The turfgrass industry in NY State encompasses a diverse array of land-use types including lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, school grounds, parks, sod farms, and cemeteries. Collectively, turf grasses occupy roughly 10 percent of total land area in NY State. Turfgrass research and extension at AgriTech focuses on developing and disseminating sustainable practices for maintaining healthy and attractive turfgrasses while also reducing external inputs such as pesticides and fertilizers. We also seek to educate our stakeholders on strategies for improving soil health and enhancing the ecosystem service value of turfgrasses.
