Meet CALS Ambassadors
CALS Ambassadors are dedicated student leaders who represent our diverse undergraduate student community. The group spotlighted here, along with their 60+ fellow Ambassadors, come from a variety of backgrounds and study across CALS academic disciplines. Their goal is to share genuine perspective on their Cornell CALS student experiences.
I am a motivated first generation student who is driven towards gaining an education in the field of biology. I am someone who is always determined to create a difference in any setting, whether that be in lecture or in a study session with friends. I always try to lighten up the mood and not always take everything so seriously.
Volunteering as a CALS Ambassador and Diversity Admissions Ambassador gives me the experience to understand young peoples' struggles and find ways to connect them to resources that will promote their success through social and economic mobility.
CALS was a great fit because two of its main components, finance and life sciences, are subjects of great interest to me. Additionally, I was always attracted to the down to earth nature of the students I met while applying.
CALS is truly a great fit for me because I love all that CALS has to offer. I love how specialized they are as I can really hone in on my passion for food science in this college! The community is amazing, and everyone is so encouraging and kind!
Before discovering CALS, I struggled to find a university that suited my interests in both the environment and communication. I refused to sacrifice either passion, and with CALS, I did not have to. CALS does not limit its students to any one thing!
I have been passionate about the natural world and especially entomology since I was just a kid and CALS allows me to continue exploring it more professionally.
I love that CALS is committed to a more sustainable and cleaner environment. Their leadership in contributing to carbon neutrality by 2035 shows that the school is empowering grass root change in global-scale problems.
I am a person that likes to focus on many different things at once, so being a part of CALS where there are over 20 different majors, I can get a little bit of everything which makes me a great fit for CALS!
My go to spot on campus, removing my bias of being a CALS Ambassador, is definitely Mann Library. There's a lot of natural light that comes in, and it reminds me of a high school library, which is nice and nostalgic. Additionally, there is a cafe so I can get coffee.
I have the passion to change the world for the better and use any knowledge I learn for the good of people around me.
I love how strongly CALS facilitates learning experiences that adhere to the mission of purpose-driven science. Such a mission constantly reminds students of the importance of the practical fieldwork offered by the college, motivates them with pride, and encourages them to look forward to their own future.
CALS is a phenomenal fit because it brings together students, professors, and faculty from all walks of life and encourages everyone to push themselves beyond their comfort zone to grow. Whether it's with career advice or looking for more friends, CALS has numerous support services are available to help you succeed.
In the same way that CALS offers its students a flexible, highly interdisciplinary space where creativity and science meet; neither I nor my academic interests can be defined by one study or one field. Driven by passion, persistence, and curiosity I think less about how my interests fit the needs of our current world, but more so understanding what needs to be addressed in the world. If I'm going to aid in redefining fundamental concepts and challenge ethical, civil, and political issues in our ever-changing world to bring a new reality of equity, I can't have a one-track mind.
I am a good fit for CALS because I always want to expand my studies. With so many diverse departments, you can connect almost any interest to your own. Whether it is honey bee biology or environmental law, I am always excited to apply what I learn to my interests!
I love how CALS is super hands on! It prepares students to become change-makers and implant solutions for pressing problems by analyzing agricultural and scientific outcomes.
