My highlight experience was going to CALS fest for the first time where I got to hold a baby chick, get CALS merch, get a succulent, and meet new people!

What has been an academic highlight for you within your major?

An academic highlight for me has been taking GDEV 3410-Refugee Pathways: From Conflict to Resettlement and getting to delve into the topic of refugees that I didn't know that I had an interest in. Not only has the class allowed me to think critically about migration from a legal and sociological perspective, but it has also allowed me to engage in the topic of migration from a practical lens. We, students, have been given the opportunity to visit and partner with resettlement agencies in Upstate NY to help us understand and support the refugee resettlement process.

What is something you have been involved with outside of academics that is meaningful to you?

Being a part of the Adventist Christian Fellowship and Cru has given me a community of other students who share my faith. This reminds me that though I am hours away from home, I still have a strong support system.

What are your post-graduation goals?

My post-graduation goals are to go to graduate school and pursue an advanced degree in the social sciences whether it's law, community/international development, education, or economics.
