Overall Vision
Teaching is key to our mission here in SIPS. We’ve built excellent, growing undergraduate majors in Plant Sciences and Agricultural Sciences, impactful and widely respected graduate curricula, and expanding MPS programs. We’re injecting Active Learning and evidence-based teaching practices into our teaching, and expanding engaged, experiential, and entrepreneurial (E3) experiences for our students.
The role of the Associate Director for Teaching is to ensure teaching is part of the conversation here in SIPS, around these imperatives:
- Elevate the practice of teaching in SIPS through active learning initiatives and engagement with the Center for Teaching Innovation.
- Marshall support and resources for teaching such as support for faculty seeking constructive engagement with artificial intelligence.
- Sustain and celebrate our excellence in diverse aspects of teaching.
- Anticipate changing teaching needs, such as faculty renewal, increasing student enrollment, student mentoring, and teaching spaces.
