Pandemic vegetable gardening 2020 archive
In Spring 2020 Horticulture Section chair Steve Reiners responded to the pandemic driven interest in vegetable gardening by penning a weekly how-to column designed to help newbies get started and help experienced growers hone their skills.
"Over the last few weeks," he wrote in his first column "Americans have been forced to deal with a terrible pandemic, often feeling frustrated as to what they can do. One of the best things you can do is take a break from the news and social media and get outside.
"Research shows spending time in nature relieves stress and anxiety, improves your mood, and boosts feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Those are all things we need right now." (Read the whole article.)
