Transfer Curriculum
The following curriculum modifications are for students who have transferred to Cornell's Animal Science program from a different institution.
Sophomore Transfer Curriculum Modifications
Sophomore transfer must completed a minimum of 36 credits in Animal Science and select a concentration
Foundational competency
- ANSC 1101 and ANSC 1105 - Granted exemption and not required
- Up to two courses can be granted exemption with an equivalent course and petition approval. The petition must include a syllabus for the equivalent course from the previous institution and approved by the Cornel course instructor.
- Examples: Students may receive an exemption from BIOAP 1100 if they took a similar course in anatomy and physiology at their previous institution. A syllabus must be provided and receive approval through a petition process.
Concentration Coursework
Transfer of credits that meet CALS requirements can be eligible for exemption from the below categories:
- Math/Statistics
- Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Physics
- Economics/Finance
For the above possible exemptions, please talk with your faculty advisor.
Junior Transfer Curriculum Modifications
It is expected that junior transfers have already met CALS requirement for Chemistry and Statistics. Junior transfers must complete a minimum of 26 Animal Science credits.
Foundational competency
- ANSC 1101 and ANSC 1105 - Granted exemption and not required
- Complete three of the four required courses:
- BIOAP 1100 Domestic Animal Biology
- ANSC 21202 Animal Nutrition
- ANSC 2210 Principles of Animal Genetics
- ANSC 2400 Animal Reproduction and Development
Ethics and Animal Welfare
Granted exemption and not required
Fundamentals of Animal Management
This category can be granted exemption if you have taken an equivalent management course (please talk to your advisor to determine if you qualify).
If transferring equivalent courses from your previous institution, you must choose an alternate ANSC course in consultation with your advisor. To be granted exemption, students must complete a petition that includes a syllabus for the equivalent course from their previous institution.
