Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS)
The Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS) was developed to predict requirements, feed utilization, animal performance and nutrient excretion for dairy and beef cattle using accumulated knowledge about feed composition, digestion, and metabolism in supplying nutrients to meet requirements.
Ruminant Farm Systems (RuFaS)
RuFaS is a next-generation, whole-farm model that simulates dairy farm production and environmental impact. The model uses modern, modular coding and development practices to build a flexible, adaptable, interoperable research and decision-support tool for sustainable ruminant production. The goal of the model is to be a next-generation decision support tool that is modular, adaptable, open-source, and available to a wide range of users including dairy industry professionals, natural resource managers, and researchers.
Additional Resources
This website has been developed by the Cornell Applied Dairy Cattle Genetics Class, ANSC 3310, to provide explanation and clarification on the genetics of dairy cattle and the application of genetic evaluations towards animal improvement. It is geared towards non-scientists with pages centered on education, research, and producer usage. Students chose their own topics of interest for their webpages. The majority of the pages are informational but a few are designed for extension/classroom education and producer management use with materials available to download.
This Internet-based educational resource on genetics was designed to expose university undergraduates and the general population to the basic genetics concepts and principles. By presenting basic genetics principles in a simple and concise manner and at a level accessible to the general public, our web site provides a large segment of the student population and the general public with the opportunity to become participants in the genetics revolution.
This is a growing reference that includes plant images, pictures of affected animals and presentations concerning the botany, chemistry, toxicology, diagnosis and prevention of poisoning of animals by plants and other natural flora (fungi, etc.).
