Program overview

New York Agricultural Education Outreach works in partnership with Cornell University, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and the New York State Education Department to develop the next generation to meet the challenges facing agriculture and create a more agriculturally literate society. Students are encouraged to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of career pathways. The agricultural literacy of teachers and students is paramount in our work to empower and build an innovative and engaged workforce.

Our programs

New York Agriculture in the Classroom

New York Agriculture in the Classroom (NYAITC) is an outreach program of Cornell University. Working with Pre-K through 12th grade teachers, NYAITC provides high-quality professional development, lessons, resources, and programs to inspire classroom teachers to use food and agriculture as a context for agriculture.  Our mission is to increase the agricultural literacy of the next generation with the hope that they will be able to understand and communicate the source and value of agriculture as it impacts our daily lives.

Our programs

New York Agricultural Education and FFA

New York Agricultural Education and its professional organization, the NY Association of Agricultural Educators, promotes and improves the teaching of agriculture, as well as maintains and improves professional standards of agricultural educators at the middle and secondary levels. New York Agricultural Education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems. Agricultural education instruction is delivered through three major components: classroom/laboratory instruction, Supervised Agricultural Experience programs and student leadership through participation in the FFA. FFA is an intracurricular dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success. FFA develops members’ potential by discovering their talents through hands-on experiences. FFA gives their members the tools to achieve real-world success.
