4-H youth are encouraged to gain confidence and show off their knowledge by participating in different hands-on and knowledge-based contests in their species' program areas. Contact your local 4-H educator for opportunities to get started and participate at your local and regional levels. Many of these contests have state level competitions that happen annually at Cornell, the State Fair, or other locations. For some contests, youth have the opportunity to represent New York at National level competitions. Rules may differ slightly at local, regional, or national competitions.
