Hello, everyone. My name is Qi Lan, and this fall I’ll be starting the MPS program in Global Development at Cornell University. I’m passionate about community development, social policy, and different cultures, and I enjoy interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. I believe that every encounter and every conversation is an opportunity to broaden my horizons and learn something new.

Outside of my studies, my biggest hobby is cooking. I enjoy using my free time to explore different recipes and try my hand at making all kinds of dishes. For me, cooking is not just a hobby—it’s a way to relax and relieve stress. I’ve always believed that good food not only delights the palate but also brings people closer together. I especially love sharing the food I’ve prepared with my family and friends; seeing them enjoy my cooking brings me genuine satisfaction and happiness. For me, sharing food is sharing joy. I hope to have the opportunity in the future to share Chinese cuisine with classmates from all over the world, and I look forward to tasting the specialties of different countries and experiencing the charm of diverse cultures through these exchanges. At the same time, I’m passionate about fitness; regular exercise helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle and keeps me in a positive and upbeat mindset. I look forward to making friends from all over the world at Cornell, learning and growing together with everyone, and spending a fulfilling and unforgettable time there.
