Today’s society, and specifically global food systems, is faced with the challenge of feeding seven billion people – nine billion by 2050.  The Cornell Institute for Food Systems (CIFS) comprises a multidisciplinary group of Faculty Fellows who tackle diverse issues in the food industry to meet this challenge. Bringing together nearly one hundred Cornell faculty members, the CIFS Faculty Fellows are drawn from a variety of Cornell departments, including:

  • Animal Science
  • Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future
  • Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management
  • Biological and Environmental Engineering
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Environmental Toxicology
  • Food Science
  • Nutritional Sciences
  • Plant Breeding and Genetics
  • Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology
  • Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, and
  • Veterinary Medicine.

CIFS Faculty Fellows engage with the Institute and its industry partners in a variety of mechanisms including collaborative research, scientific advisory roles, and developing talent pipelines.

A central vehicle for industry engagement with the CIFS Faculty Fellows is the Cornell Institute for Food Systems Industry Partnership Program (CIFS-IPP), CIFS’s flagship corporate affiliates program.   For more information on CIFS-IPP, the benefits it offers industry partners and its current industry members, please visit CIFS-IPP.
