Student Employment with AIISP

AIISP employs multiple students each term in a variety of support roles to expand student experience, build on program initiatives, and support program services. 

Student Ambassadors

AIISP Student Ambassadors serve year-long terms representating the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program. The student ambassadors will support the recruitment of prospective and admitted students to Cornell. Ambassadors will share their experiences about Cornell and AIISP with prospective high school students, transfer students, and their families. Ambassadors should have a familiarity with AIISP’s programs, staff, and events, and should strive to be honest but also speak about the benefits of attending Cornell.

Student Office Assistants

The American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program (AIISP) hires student office assistants to assist AIISP staff with weekly office tasks, event support, and perform special projects as their experience and unique skillset dictate.

The American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program student office assistants support Program staff with administrative tasks such as creating calendars, newsletters, social media content creation and scheduling, set up and break down for events, graphic design, website updates, program archives, Caldwell library management, and special projects as assigned. Schedule can accommodate school breaks, and but work hours must occur during regular office hours M-F 9-5pm. Hiring priority to students pursuing an American Indian and Indigenous Studies Minor at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

AIISP Tutors

The American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program (AIISP) offers Native American and Indigenous students academic support through 1:1 tutoring. AIISP pairs students in academic need with a tutor to ensure their academic success. AIISP provides tutoring services to students in academic need. Tutors assist students experiencing academic difficulties and provide strategies to assist with their academic success. The tutor is matched with no more than 3 students per semester.

Teaching Assistants

Teaching Assistants for American Indian & Indigenous Studies undergraduate courses are generally selected by the professor in the preceding term. If you are interested in a TA position for a specific course please reach out to the faculty member directly. Hiring will be completed through WorkDay. 

Research Assistants

Research assistant positions are dependent on available funding, and sponsorship by a faculty member.
