Akwe:kon provides students with a number of resources that make living at Cornell more convenient and comfortable.

Our residents have access to a small library, a computer lab with many software programs and printers, and study rooms. Beyond these academic resources, our residents can use Akwe:kon's full kitchen, in-house laundry room, and several lounge spaces to relax.

Akwe:kon Guest Rooms

There are two guest rooms in Akwe:kon for visiting parents, family, program guests, and prospective students. The guest rooms are a unique feature of Cornell's Indigenous community. They rooms have hosted various tribal leaders, academic advisors from overseas, political leaders, and cultural educators.

Study Rooms

Akwe:kon offers two small study rooms, one on each floor. The rooms provide a quiet space where residents can work. They come equipped with a large desk with ample work space and a chalkboard or whiteboard. There is no need to reserve the rooms; they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Computer Room

The computer room in Akwe:kon is another study area equipped with multiple PCs and monitors. The computers are loaded with MATLAB, Microsoft Office Suite, and other programs. For students who need access to design tools, several of the computers have Adobe Creative Cloud programs loaded.

No need to go outside to do your laundry as Akwe:kon has its own laundry room on the second floor. The laundry room is fully equipped with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board, along with a clothesline for delicate items that need to line dry.

Kitchen

Akwe:kon has a cozy community kitchen with a refrigerator, electric stove and oven unit, microwave, and dishwasher. The kitchen has plenty of condiments to support students who don't have meal plans, or wish to prepare meals themselves at Akwe:kon. Students are encouraged to bring their own dishware, but the kitchen is furnished with limited amount of dishes and other cooking gear. Residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.
