Grace Feisthamel has a background in Northeastern food systems work with a focus on racial equity. She enjoys studying the intersection of plants and their histories, and food and culinary practices because she has a curiosity and passion for understanding people. As an Master of Professional Studies (MPS) student in Global Development, Grace seeks to address land sovereignty and food justice issues by understanding the history of agriculture and policy in the United States. She is a FLAS fellow and the Global Development Graduate Assistant, and is pursuing a graduate minor in City and Regional Planning.

Grace has a background in nonprofit work and farming, including working to improve food access at farmers markets and other local food outlets, managing and implementing nutrition benefit programs, supporting refugee and immigrant farmers in running successful small farm businesses, and in supporting the local food movement across Rhode Island, New York State, and the Northeast.
