Uchenna Amaechina holds an educational background in Veterinary Medicine and boasts 10 years of experience in the agribusiness sector. Her focus lies in innovative approaches to agri-food value chain development and empowering communities to achieve sustainable and resilient food systems. Currently serving as a Program Assistant at the United Nations World Food Programme in the Livelihood and Resilience Unit, Uchenna is actively involved in designing and implementing projects focused on enhancing sustainability, resilience, and community empowerment to achieve sustainable and resilient food systems.
She has managed livestock development projects funded by Bill Gates and the Department for International Development, which played a crucial role in driving agricultural transformation in Nigeria. These projects provided technical support services to smallholder farmers, facilitated access to inputs and financial grants, improved market linkages for their products, and increased off-farm value-addition. Consequently, these efforts led to enhanced agricultural productivity and household income, promoted equitable consumption of a safe and nutritious diets year-round, and empowered women in agriculture.
Throughout her career, Uchenna has collaborated with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and farmer cooperatives. Her adeptness in securing funding for agricultural projects and leveraging resources has ensured maximum impact. With extensive experience in agricultural development, Uchenna excels in providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including assessment, planning, design, technical material preparation, training, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting. Committed to continual learning and knowledge sharing, Uchenna actively participates in industry conferences and professional training programs.
