Our expertise

Our team, with the Department of Food Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, is a diverse group of faculty and staff with extensive knowledge that spans nearly all aspects of dairy science and technology.

Programs & courses

Courses provide training to dairy processors in vital topics including milk and dairy product quality and safety, basic dairy microbiology, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), unit operations, sanitation, food safety plans, audits and state and federal regulations.

Our programs offer a series of workshops that lead towards certificates in fluid milk production, cheese production, membrane filtration and separation and production of other cultured dairy products.

How we can help

The Dairy Foods Extension team has helped dairy producers obtain training in current dairy processing, providing the latest dairy research and technological advances to ensure the long term sustainability of the dairy industry in New York state. Training and consulting services are available in a variety of topics and specialties. Process review and validation, pre-audit consulting, and on-site consultations provided beyond our core curriculum.
