Title: Freshwater Mussel Biologist

Mike is a Freshwater Mussel Biologist working in collaboration with the NYS Museum and the DEC Bureau of Ecosystem Health to advance research and restoration efforts for freshwater mussel recovery across New York State. He has a background in stream ecology and conservation and previously worked at the Texas A&M University Freshwater Mussel Conservation Lab, where he studied mussel life history, flow-ecology, and biogeography. Mike other experiences include supporting the US Geological Survey on fish community recovery research in streams affected by acidification in the Catskill and Adirondack regions. He has also led mussel surveys across the eastern U.S. to support environmental compliance measures for state and federal agencies and private clients.
