About

Sammi Lin is a junior in CALS studying International Agriculture and Rural Development with a minor in International Trade and Development. She is interested in exploring the intersections between research, policy, outreach and extension, and ways to better communicate and develop solutions to global food insecurity alongside local and Indigenous peoples. She has experience working with both domestic and international nonprofits and NGOs in supporting small-scale urban agriculture in New York City, tropical agroforestry in Ecuador, and artisanal fisheries in Mexico. Hailing from Queens, she is especially interested in learning about how traditional agroecology principles from NYC’s immigrant and refugee communities serve to promote both environmental resilience and food sovereignty, and how engaging (urban) youth can lead to transforming our local food systems. In her free time, she enjoys learning about different cultures by studying languages, trying out new recipes, and reading and watching media from around the world.
