About

My name is Ella Hsu and I'm a sophomore majoring in food science originally from Kingston, Canada. Studying food science and with previous experience in a food microbiology lab, I’ve been able to learn in-depth about the more technical aspects of foods. However, the intersection of where food tech meets food policy is something I’m increasingly drawn to.

I’m interested in learning about how current and new technologies can be applied to create more equitable, efficient, and sustainable food systems, and how these new technologies go from abstract ideas to widespread and consequential policies.

Outside of research and academics, I enjoy cooking, baking, and gettinng outdoors. I’ll rarely say no to an outdoor adventure, whether that be a fall hike or a study session en-plein-air. Favourite foods to make include all sorts of pies - different fruits depending on the season, or a good turkey or chicken pot pie in the colder months.
