Environmental Materials and Processes

The Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering designs materials and processes that address today’s most pressing challenges in water, energy and food production. Our work includes ecosystem monitoring and modeling, designing nature-based solutions to environmental contamination and energy generation, and fabricating sustainable and biological materials for contaminant remediation, energy storage, rare earth mineral capture, and fuel processing.
