Mingming Wu

Professor, Biological and Environmental Engineering

Professor Wu directs the Biofluidics lab (biofluidics.bee.cornell.edu) in the Department of biological and environmental engineering at Cornell University. Her lab is best known for developing micro-scale devices and computation tools for measuring cell generated forces, exploring cellular growth and dynamics and their co-evolvement with the environment. The problems of choices are motivated by contemporary problems in health and environment. Current research projects include tumor mechanics and invasion.

Courses Taught

Behind every new science, there is a new technology. Professor Wu’s teaching focuses on the development of advanced technologies for studying biological systems. The emphasis is on creative thinking, innovation and integrating knowledges across physics, biology and chemistry. In Bioinspired Microsystems Engineering course, her students often come up with innovative solutions for contemporary problems in biology blurring the boundary of classroom teaching and frontier research.
