Intellectual exploration, multidisciplinary approach
Our graduate and undergraduate students explore issues related to biodiversity, ecosystem integrity, climate change and natural resources management, often in partnership with local groups, state agencies, and national and international environmental organizations. Through diverse educational and research experiences in the classroom and in the field, we offer numerous opportunities for students to be part of a vital and growing field focused on environmental science and sustainability. These experiences bring students a greater understanding of the world and how they can contribute to it.
Undergraduate studies
The environment and sustainability (E&S) major spans perspectives needed to build a world with more sustainable environmental conditions. As a cross-college major in CALS and Arts & Sciences, E&S brings together students and faculty with diverse skills and common purpose. Our department plays a critical role in educating future scientists through our courses in natural resources and with our faculty members, who serve as advisors in the major.
