Improving society’s stewardship of the environment
The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment is deeply committed to public outreach and extension education on conservation topics for youth and adults, as well as programming for policymakers and resource management professionals. Our extension programs involve a variety of audiences, from inner-city communities to the most remote rural parts of northern New York, the region and globally. We engage people in systems-thinking at levels ranging from genes to ecosystems, and from individual actors to institutions and cultures, as well as expanded perspectives to address problems with multidisciplinary solutions at several geographic and temporal scales.
