Awais Javaid

Food Systems & Global Change Graduate Research Assistant

About

After graduating as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Pakistan, Awais was driven by his passion for research to pursue further studies at Cornell University. Currently, he is a dedicated PhD candidate in the Animal Science Department, with a specific focus on the animal health aspects of dairy cows. His research centers around investigating the health disorders that arise from environmental and dietary conditions, particularly endotoxemia and its impact on the gut-liver-immune axis. These disorders have a detrimental effect on dairy production and pose challenges to the sustainability of the industry. Awais aims to develop innovative techniques to achieve zero carbon emissions in agricultural food systems and livestock production. He is deeply interested in promoting sustainability within the livestock industry and exploring the adaptation of livestock practices in diverse climate regions worldwide. Additionally, he is intrigued by the intricate relationship between the gut microbial community and other organ systems and plans to pursue further studies in this fascinating field.
