Food Waste
Virtual Symposium: Towards a true systems approach to reducing food loss and waste from farm-to-table
March 15 & 16, 2022
Reducing food waste and loss and enhancing the sustainability of global food systems is clearly a hot topic. However, the subject is a lot more complicated and complex than some may think. This virtual symposium addressed different implementation-ready and emerging technology solutions and the challenges to their implementation as well as the economics of food waste and loss reduction. The symposium was designed to provide valuable information for industry and those interested in making decisions as to how to reduce food waste and loss, as well as funding agencies and academics who would like to better understand the challenges and opportunities in this field.
Hosted by the Cornell University Department of Food Science in partnership with the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research
co-sponsored by

Webinar: Digital approaches to reducing food waste and improving food safety
March 21, 2022
Funded by the Walmart Foundation, a multidisciplinary team from Cornell has engaged in research centered around building models to explain and predict food quality and food safety parameters within selected fresh produce markets in China. This webinar introduces the basics of microbial food safety modeling and shares examples of food safety models from the team's work in China as well as from researchers in China.
