Training Resources by Role

Review, Promotion, & Tenure Processes

There are two distinct tracks for review cases in CALS: professorial appointments (both tenure and non-tenure track); and Research, Teaching, & Extension appointments (known as RTE). Interfolio will be used in all scenarios to gather materials from candidates and other review stakeholders (e.g., the unit conducting the review, students, advisees, letter writers, other faculty). Where the two processes differ is only beyond the unit conducting the review:

  1. Professorial appointments will continue to be reviewed as they always have.
A PDF file adhering to the pertinent CALS guidelines will be derived from the case materials. That PDF will be transmitted to the Senior Associate Dean's Office for review and will continue to follow current processes.
  2. RTE appointments will remain within Interfolio.
The Senior Associate Dean's Office and HR will access case materials directly in Interfolio. This will further streamline the case review process.

The following image illustrates the flow of a single review case from inception to finish within the college.

Interfolio accepts a wide variety of file types for upload. As a best practice, PDF, Office documents, and image files are recommended. Note that any files uploaded to Interfolio will be converted to PDF for the dossier. It is recommended to convert webpages and other media into one of the recommend formats. For a full list see this article from the Interfolio documentation: Accepted File Types
