Which CALS college distribution requirements apply to you?
If you started at Cornell...
- Before Fall 2025, or if you are expected to graduate before May 2029*, follow the Pre-2025 CALS requirements.
- In Fall 2025 or later, and you are expected to graduate in May 2029 or later*, follow the 2025+ CALS requirements.
* The expected graduation date stems from each student's matriculation date. Some students may graduate before or after this date. You may not petition to change distribution requirements if your actual date of graduation differs from the expected date at matriculation to Cornell.

What about DUST?
All CALS students will continue to use DUST to access important CALS resources.
If a student is in Stellic @ Cornell, the "Degree Advising" link in DUST will automatically route to Stellic @ Cornell for these students and their advisors.
Which CALS students will use Stellic @ Cornell?
CALS undergraduate students enrolled at Cornell Summer 2023 or later will use Stellic @ Cornell.
CALS undergraduate students who started at Cornell before Summer 2023 will continue using DUST to track college-level degree requirements through graduation.
DUST Degree Progress links in DUST will automatically route to the student’s Stellic @ Cornell record only if the student has launched.
For Department Level Advisors:
Users with department-level access (CALS Advisors, DUSs, Coordinators, and others that are requested by the department) can view the Stellic @ Cornell records of all active students in their area, regardless of whether the student has launched in Stellic @ Cornell. In a student’s record, the “Live in Stellic” tag indicates the student has launched. Note that it may be necessary to click “more” to see all tags. If the “Live in Stellic” tag is missing, and the student’s Degree Progress link in DUST does not route to a Stellic @ Cornell record, advisors should continue to refer to DUST for that student’s degree progress.
How do major changes within CALS impact Stellic @ Cornell access for eligible CALS students?
- If students move to a major already launched, they will join Stellic @ Cornell.
- If a student moves from a launched major to a major that has not yet been launched, they will stay in Stellic @ Cornell but not see their major progress reflected until their new major launches in Stellic @ Cornell.
- If a student is a double major, and only one of those majors has launched, the student will use Stellic but will only see major progress for the launched major until the second major launches.
- Note that major changes made after week six of the semester are not effective until the end of the semester, and Stellic @ Cornell will also not reflect these changes until the semester ends.
What if a student's courses have been counted toward CALS distribution requirements differently in Stellic @ Cornell than they were in DUST?
A student’s courses may be assigned to distributions differently in Stellic @ Cornell than they were in DUST, and this is okay! Even though DUST and Stellic @ Cornell prioritize courses across distributions differently, the overall progress a student has made in completing their degree will be unaffected. If a student notices a mismatch in overall degree progress in Stellic @ Cornell, our office can help verify; please email us at cals-studentservices [at] cornell.edu (cals-studentservices[at]cornell[dot]edu.)
What if a course says it counts for a CALS distribution requirement, but the course doesn't show under that requirement in a student's Stellic @ Cornell record?
The student may have already completed that requirement with other courses, in which case, surplus courses would not show up in that distribution category. The approved distributions when the student took the course can be found in each semester’s Courses of Study. Students may contact cals-studentservices [at] cornell.edu (cals-studentservices[at]cornell[dot]edu) if they believe a course should have counted for a particular distribution.
What if a course should count for a major requirement and isn't showing up in Stellic @ Cornell?
As always, questions about major requirements should be directed to the student’s faculty advisor or that major’s advising coordinator.
My external transfer course isn't showing accurately on Stellic.
Make sure you are looking at the Courses tab.
- Is it an Advanced Placement (AP) or another exam? AP credits are still being processed and may not be visible in Stellic yet.
- If you have questions about how your AP credit will apply, review the courses of study.
- Due to high volume, we cannot confirm receipt of AP scores for each student. If your AP score does not appear as expected by the end of the first week of classes, please email cals-studentservices [at] cornell.edu for assistance.
- If it is a transfer course from another college that isn’t showing under courses:
- When did you send your final transcript? Please allow up to 2 weeks for processing before reaching out.
- If you sent the transcript more than two weeks ago (courses only, not APs), please email cals-studentservices [at] cornell.edu (cals-studentservices[at]cornell[dot]edu).
- If your transfer course is showing but not fulfilling the requirement you expected:
- For College Requirements (Overall Credits and College Distribution Requirements), contact cals-studentservices [at] cornell.edu.
- For Major Requirements, contact your Advising Coordinator.
