Working to preserve our cherished ecosystems
The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment's fishery and wildlife conservation programs are focused on protecting and sustaining terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. These programs are committed to understanding how fish and wildlife populations effect their environments, and communicating informative and practical insight to those who are impacted directly, and indirectly, by changes in New York's ecosystems.

Our staff coordinate research projects with an education and information dissemination program that reaches extension specialists, growers, nurserymen, and homeowners throughout New York State and the northeast.

Part of a joint initiative with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) Hudson River Estuary Program to conserve important ecosystems in the estuary watershed.
