MyCALSMoment

My CALS moment was randomly running into the CALSfest my first year. I had no idea it was happening that day and stumbled onto the Ag quad after a full day of classes. Instead of trekking back to north, I was able to pet farm animals, learn about composting, and have local food offerings at a stall. It was a really unique CALS experience that opened my eyes to how active campus was day to day.

What has been an academic highlight for you within your major?

An academic highlight within my major was studying for finals with many of my food science friends. Studying for finals can be stressful and boring, but meeting up with friends in my major to study Biochemistry and Food Engineering made it enjoyable, even with difficult courses.

What are your post-graduation goals?

My goals post-graduation revolve around using my double major to contribute to the development of sustainable food systems worldwide. I would love to contribute to developing a food product that can more effectively or efficiently feed the millions of hungry people on the planet.

What is one of your favorite spots on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the botanical gardens. So much effort goes into maintaining the diverse plant life featured in them and they are an amazing place to relax with a long walk.
