What has been an academic highlight for you within your major?

BIOAP 31110: Animal Physiology has been by far one of the best classes I have taken at Cornell. This course bridges the gap between biological concepts and organismal health, aligning with my interest in veterinary medicine. We learned through real medical cases, and the professors (Dr. Lin and Dr. Sethupathy) are so genuine and supportive. I’ll be TA’ing for the class in the fall!

Why is CALS a great fit for you? Why are you a great fit for CALS?

CALS spans so many disciplines and yet keeps them grounded in current global issues and real-world impact. From learning about how to be a good science communicator in my FWS to understanding the mechanisms behind Ozempic, being able to actively integrate what I learn into other classes, my undergraduate research, pre-professional experiences, and even news headlines is the kind of education I was looking for.

What are your go-to campus resources? 

The TAs and professors in the Learning Strategies Center were a lifesaver my first year, especially for General Chemistry. The Office of Undergraduate Biology’s faculty and upperclassmen advisors are my go-tos for course recommendations and academic planning.

What advice would you share with your younger self about the transition to college and thriving as a Cornell CALS student?

Don’t be afraid to try new things and get out of your comfort zone. Many of my most memorable moments, accomplishments, and friends are from things I never expected to do!
