When I first got to campus, I was walking around when I found a small booth on the Ag Quad. They were giving away a variety of small succulents to students and I ended up picking out one, that I named Brad. Although I am not the best plant caretaker, Brad has made it all the way to senior year and has grown along with me.

What has been an academic highlight for you outside of your major? 

I took an entrepreneurship course called Dilemmas of Entrepreneurship because it seemed interesting when I read the course description. Throughout the semester, we learned about different startups and the difficult decisions that led them to succeed or fail. By the end of the course I had a new topic I was interested in and it ended up being my favorite course I have taken at Cornell!

How have you found your closest friends at Cornell? 

Before coming to Cornell, I participated in a pre-orientation program called Outdoor Odyssey where along with a group of new students and guides we backpacked in the finger lakes. While we made our way through the mud and rain, my group and I became super close and are still close as we approach our senior year!

What advice would you share with your younger self about the transition to college and thriving as a Cornell CALS student?

TRY EVERYTHING!!!! It is so important when coming to Cornell to put yourself out there, go to every event you can, and try new things! You never know the friends you will make at a random club event or potential new career path you didn’t even know existed at an Alumni Networking event. By putting yourself out there and trying everything, you can really get the most out of your experience at Cornell!
