The 22nd Giesco meeting will be held at Cornell University in beautiful Ithaca, New York State.  Our meeting will take place in Klarman Hall located on the main Cornell campus in Ithaca.  Founded in 1865, Cornell is a top-ranked University and the only Ivy League institution to offer research, teaching, and outreach in Viticulture & Enology.  Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, NY has a long history of grape and wine research. Beginning with a grape-breeding program in 1888, Cornell has developed numerous important grape-growing practices, including detailed canopy management of vines and vineyard mechanization.

The Finger Lakes region is home to over 250 wineries based four main lakes with Native American names: Canandaigua ("The Chosen Spot" or "The Chosen Place"), Keuka ("Canoe Landing" or "Crooked Lake"), Seneca ("Place of the Stone"), and Cayuga ("Boat Landing").   The region specializes in sparkling wines, Riesling, Pinot noir, Cabernet Franc, as well as several hybrid cultivars.
