Our Portfolio
Editorial & Media Relations
The editorial team services CALS faculty, staff and students by creating and sharing news and feature coverage of research, teaching and extension and outreach news. We develop and distribute a wide variety of content for our college-wide publications, websites, newsletters and social media, as well as the Cornell Chronicle.
We coordinate with the Cornell Media Relations Office to distribute news releases and tip sheets for reporters and other entities. We also assist journalists who request information or interviews of CALS' experts.
Branding & Creative Services
The Marketing and Communications office directs the college's strategic messaging, visual identity guidelines and manages the college's brand. Materials produced by administrative and academic units, as well as faculty and staff, should follow our brand guidelines. Our team produces various print and digital materials for the college to meet the dean's strategic goals. We also offer guidance for your projects including brand compliance, design best practices, creative or distribution strategy as well as provide referrals to creative freelancers/vendors.
Digital Strategy & Support
The digital strategy team maintains and develops strategies for CALS' digital communications systems and infrastructure, including enterprise administration of team-wide systems such as project management and email marketing tools. The unit also manages and supports the CALS Drupal website, which consists of more than 100 subsites representing our departments, administrative units and academic, research and extension programs, as well as the "core" college website.
Strategic, Issue & Crisis Communications
Our team provides leadership and expertise in strategic, issue or crisis communications to college leadership, department chairs, faculty and staff. Please cals-comm [at] cornell.edu (reach out to us) if you are in need of advice or council on any communications or public-facing issue.
Signature Event Support
Our team manages strategic events on behalf of the office of the dean and the college's leadership team. We can consult on best practices for department or program events and advise on marketing strategy.
Channel Management
Through our owned channels, we tell the stories and show the impact of CALS' life-changing research, education and outreach through a digital-first strategy that leverages campus partnerships and news media to reach key audiences, which include current and prospective students, faculty and staff, alumni and state and federal partners.
We openly share valuable knowledge.
