Community-engaged innovation
Our outreach model centers community stakeholders in every phase of the research process, ensuring relevance and real-world impact.
Outreach and extension are foundational to the Ashley School’s mission. Through Cornell Cooperative Extension, a core part of Cornell University, we deliver environmental education programs and science-based resources to youth, adults and professionals across New York state. Our programs support conservation, climate adaptation, food systems innovation and natural resource management, reaching audiences from urban neighborhoods to remote rural communities.
Beyond CCE, our faculty lead independent extension initiatives that engage landowners, educators, policymakers and resource management professionals across the region and globally. These efforts include technical assistance, field trainings, policy briefings and community-based workshops – ensuring that research is translated into practical tools and strategies.
This approach shortens the path from discovery to implementation, making our work more agile, accessible, and effective.
The Global Development Section at Cornell is dedicated to developing lasting solutions to alleviate poverty and hunger, foster social and economic equality, and protect the environment.
The Natural Resources and the Environment Section is deeply committed to public outreach and extension education on conservation topics for youth and adults, as well as programming for policymakers and resource management professionals.
Cornell Cooperative Extension puts knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability and social well-being.
