Why did you choose Cornell CALS?

In Cornell CALS, I could see genuine commitment to community and curiosity. I knew that I would be getting a well-rounded education complete with academic rigor and valuable experiences. CALS gave me an opportunity to chase my aspirations facilitated by inspirational faculty and alongside passionate peers. The enthusiasm of CALS was so enticing to me; I knew there was no better place to grow and learn.

Looking back over your freshman year at CALS, which classes or experiences were most meaningful?

My first year at CALS has been everything I could have dreamt of and more. Academically, I have found an amazing sense of community with classmates while pushing myself to strengthen my studying tactics. Outside the classroom, the most valuable experience to me has been joining the preprofessional agriculture fraternity, Alpha Zeta. Through this organization I am able to surround myself with driven people passionate about agriculture. Every experience offered to me by CALS has simultaneously pushed me to be better and strengthened my aspirations.

What kind of research are you interested in?

Academic research offers me the opportunity to solve real-world problems and further our collective sense of knowledge. I have always loved how food serves as fuel for all of our lived experiences. Building off of this, my research interests center on studying how the innovation of ingredients within the food industry can serve to improve the efficiency of providing nutrients to consumers. Overall, I want to evaluate how food can be safe, nutritionally efficient and enjoyable for consumers.
