Marty Young, Whey Street Dairy, and Dave Grusenmeyer, New York Farm Viability Institute, received PRO-DAIRY Agriservice Awards presented by Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY Director Thomas Overton and NYS Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball during the Dairy Day Recognition and Awards Ceremony at the Great New York State Fair on August 28.

These awards are given in appreciation and recognition of outstanding contributions to NYS agriculture through support of PRO-DAIRY.

“This year’s recipients, a farmer and an agriservice professional, join a distinguished list of award winners who are chosen for their close involvement and collaborative partnership with the many of the applied research and educational programs in PRO-DAIRY,” said Overton. “We appreciate and respect their leadership and service to PRO-DAIRY and the broader agriculture industry. They are examples of the best of what the New York dairy industry has to offer.”

Lydia Young accepted the 2025 Agriservice Award on behalf of her father Marty Young, Whey Street Dairy, from NYS Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball and PRO-DAIRY Director Thomas Overton.

Marty Young has always welcomed PRO-DAIRY to interact with Whey Street Dairy, ranging from youth and student-related activities to involvement with business programs, applied research and industry training programs.

“It is dairy producers like Marty Young who make it a privilege for our PRO-DAIRY staff to work with the New York dairy industry,” Overton said.

Dave Grusenmeyer’s industry leadership, working in conjunction with the NYFVI Board of Directors and staff, has been remarkable. During his tenure NYFVI has made many contributions to the dairy industry and other aspects of New York agriculture.

“Dave Grusenmeyer has been a staunch advocate for industry programs, including PRO-DAIRY,” Overton said.

PRO-DAIRY’s mission is to facilitate New York State economic development by increasing the profitability and competitiveness of its dairy industry. PRO-DAIRY specialists have made a positive impact on the technical knowledge, management skills and economic strength of New York State’s dairy industry since 1988.
