Describe your role at the Center of Excellence: I am joining the Business Development Team, which is designed to provide business mentorship, technical expertise, key leadership, and strategic guidance to the Center of Excellence’s entrepreneur and company participants, in order to build sustainable economic growth and bring new innovations to market.
What did you do professionally before coming to the Center of Excellence? Prior to joining the Center Of Excellence, I gained over 30 years of experience in food manufacturing.
What excites you most about the work the Center of Excellence and Cornell AgriTech is doing to help grow the food and agriculture industries in New York? Providing a service to help others be successful is beneficial to many people, as well as the communities where those industries continue to thrive.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve learned over the course of your career? To never stop learning. Each day offers new opportunities for us to learn at least one thing, that we didn’t know yesterday.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today? I wanted to be able to use my experience and knowledge to help other people.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working? When I am not working, I like spending time with my family, golfing, fishing, playing with my dogs -- anything that has me outdoors.
What's something most people don’t know about you? I am somewhat of a tequila connoisseur, inspired by my family in Mexico.
Mark has three daughters, three sons, two granddaughters and two grandsons. He lives in Phelps, New York.
Mark Scoville joined the New York State Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture at Cornell AgriTech in June 2022, bringing with him over three decades of food manufacturing knowledge and experience.
