An informational webinar discussing the New York State (NYS) Grown and Certified program will be held Nov. 8 from 10-11:30 a.m.

New York State Grown and Certified is open to New York producers of multiple commodities who adhere to environmental stewardship and safe food handling practices. The program currently certifies producers of fruits and vegetables, eggs, livestock, farmed shellfish, Christmas trees, nursery crops and dairy processors.

This webinar is being hosted through collaboration between the Institute for Food Safety at Cornell University, the Produce Safety Alliance and Department of Agriculture and Markets.

The purpose of this webinar is to explain resources available in New York to help producers join the NYS Grown and Certified Program. The webinar will provide an overview of the program, including the criteria producers need to meet and available funding opportunities. In addition, personnel from New York State Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM) and Cornell will present information about resources and assistance available through their programs. There will also be time allotted to address participant questions.

The informational webinar is free and open to the public. Registration can be made online. Additional information will be provided by e-mail after registering for the webinar.
