Growing Engagement

Statewide Grower Outreach Informs IPM Priorities

New York farmers and growers don’t just have a deep commitment to their land, they have firsthand knowledge of what it takes to manage every single acre. From pest control, weed management, improving soil conditions and ensuring proper drainage, our growers are the true experts in efficient and effective strategies for preserving and protecting NY’s nearly 7 million acres of farmland. As NYSIPM prepared to launch research efforts on alternatives to neonicotinoid insecticides, we knew we couldn’t do it without the help of our ag partners, so we hit the road, traveling throughout the state to corn congresses and grower events, where we gained invaluable insight on the tools, resources and strategies farmers and producers need to keep New York growing.
