Discover CALS

See how our current work and research is bringing new thinking and new solutions to some of today's biggest challenges.

Orientation offers both required and optional events designed to introduce you to life at Cornell and to the fellow students, staff, and faculty who will help you make the most of your time here. You'll learn about campus resources that support your academic and career goals, interests, and well-being; ways to engage on campus; and a whole lot more about life on the Hill. Some programs are hosted by your college, and some are led by the university as a whole.

Students must attend all required Orientation events and are strongly encouraged to attend optional programs. All programs are designed to help you get to know campus and connect with the Cornell community.

The New Students at Cornell website will provide the orientation schedule.

You will receive an email from CALS Office of Student Services with details about the orientation process. After those initial emails, your information stream is Chatter – an online community for all CALS students. Please watch for more information that will be sent to you directly through your Cornell email and then Chatter. We will support you through the entire process.

CALS GO! (Get Oriented) is an online course that will be available to new students and is the online home for all things related to CALS’ orientation. And during the semester, Canvas is the course platform tool used by most instructors. You will find resources, events, and heaps of information to get you ready for course enrollment (when you enroll in your courses) and more generally to join CALS.

CALS GO! (Get Oriented) is available on Canvas in mid-June for fall orientation.
