The NY FarmNet Consultant Family
Draw on the support of over 40 consultants with decades of experience located all around the state. Every consultant shadows veterans and has the ability to collaborate on cases with the entire team during regular case conferencing meetings.
Financial Consultants
Financial consultants assist with business plans, cash flow analysis, succession planning, life after farming, developing financial records and record-keeping systems, loan applications, and many more farm business/financial issues.
The financial consultant position requires a BS in agricultural economics or a related field. Significant experience performing farm financial and management analyses, working with lenders, and directly with agricultural producers is required. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn data entry into the FarmNet database are also required. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel are required.
Every Financial Consultant works with an NY FarmNet Family Consultant as part of a team when assisting clients. This is a temporary, non-benefits eligible, 19 hours or less per week position with an annual reappointment based on job performance as well as approval and funding availability.

Family Consultants
NY FarmNet family consultants provide free, confidential, on-farm consulting to farmers, farm families, or agribusiness employees throughout New York State. NY FarmNet Family Consultants work with farmers to improve family and marital relations, develop strategies for better communication, manage stress and anxiety, facilitate difficult discussions, run family business meetings in a way that all members have a voice, and many more personal/family issues for clients in need of assistance.
The family consultant position requires an MSW, LCSW, masters in counseling, or equivalent degree/certification. Additional requirements include successful experience working with clients on communication skills, interpersonal relationships, goal setting, and/or addiction, family, and mental health counseling. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel are required.
Every Family Consultant works with an NY FarmNet Financial Consultant as part of a team when assisting clients. This is a temporary, non-benefits eligible, 19 hours or less per week position with an annual reappointment based on job performance as well as approval and funding availability.
